We now have made it much easier for you to order and do your roof deck project by combining the components needed into one package. Seal seams and apply one coat of our super durable roof coating with actual butyl rubber granules. Butyl rubber is the highest grade of granules you can use, this combined with our epoxy polymer coating provides and unparalleled roof deck surface not available with off the shelf coatings.
Our Waterproof Roof Deck System is easy to apply to your outdoor wood, tiled or concrete roof deck. This is the proper and easy way to waterproof and coat your roof deck for years of leak free service. Our two step system is less work with no fabric liner needed and no prior experience needed to apply. Don't take a chance on your interior space being ruined by cutting corners. Most residential grade products will fail within the second year of service. This is an industrial grade epoxy polymer with butyl rubber granules embedded into the coating. Cannot be compared to residential grade or any other off the shelf type coatings. ArmorGarage is the only guaranteed system to solve your leaking roof deck whether it's wood, concrete or tiled with ceramic or porcelain tiles.
Wood surfaces should be rough sanded clean, free of any Mil finishes, sealers or adhesives. Pressure treated wood should be aged at least 6 months before coating over. Tiled surfaces need to be cleaned and primed with our Bonding Primer(separate purchase not included in this package)
Next all seams and joints need to be sealed with our Seam Mastic( 1 gallon supplied as standard with each package ordered) and standard nylon roof mesh available at any home improvement store or hardware store. Simply spread the mastic over the seams or joint then embed a strip of the mesh into the mastic and work into the mesh with the serrated side of a rectangle trowel and then apply another thin coat of mastic over the mesh to encapsulate it. Do not put too much mastic on, just enough so you don't see the mesh is best. Joints between a deck and a structure should have a cant strip( available at Home Improvement stores) installed, apply a generous amount of mastic at the joint, embed the cant strip, cover cant strip with mastic spreading the mastic at least 4" onto the deck and 4" onto the structure. Then embed roof mesh over cant strip(see the Mastic Product Page for Cant Strip explanation) and extending onto deck and onto the structure. So that the cant strip, deck and wall are covered by the mesh and mastic. Then apply final coat of mastic over the entire roof mesh surface. If installing a cant strip and we suggest ordering at least 3.5 gallon pail of the mastic.
We recommend you do this for the edges or any joints and penetrations also. Posts should have suitable pitch pockets that you flash to the deck with the mastic and mesh, then fill the pocket void with spray foam and then coat the top of foam with the waterproof base coat. Now you have flexible and waterproof joints. Allow mastic to dry for 24-48 hrs(thicker applications may take longer to fully cure). If you have a lot of seams, cant strips to mastic you can order the 3.5 gallon size pail instead of the one gallon size that comes as part of the kit. We'll substitute the 3.5 gallon pail for the one gallon can. If ordering multiple kits you can delete the mastic option on the other kits. Add to cart the kit with the 3.5 gallon pail of mastic and then click continue shopping and add the other kits without the mastic option.
Once the mastic has completely dried, it should be hard to the touch, you can now apply the granulated roof coating This is easily done with a good quality rectangle trowel. Be sure to cover the entire surface including all areas with mastic. Allow mastic to dry 24hrs and then apply the textured coating.
Do not apply if rain is forecasted within 24 hrs or if temperature is below 45 degrees.
Coverage is 35 SF/gal in one coat.
HALF KIT COMES WITH 2.5 GALLON OF GRANULATED ROOF DECK COATING AND ADDITIONAL 1 GALLON OF MASTIC
IF GOING OVER CERAMIC OR PORCELAIN TILES YOU FIRST MUST PRIME THE TILES WITH OUR BONDING PRIMER PRIOR TO APPLYING THE GRANULATED ROOF DECK COATING.
