Facts About One Day Epoxy Floors

We see a lot of advertisements for "One Day Epoxy Floor" lately. Before you decide on one here's a few things you need to know first. In this article we'll deal with the facts and remove the hype. First off they're not 10x stronger than epoxy floors and neither are polyurea floors as often stated. One day floors are done with polyaspartic epoxy which is fast drying and can be used outdoors.

They're great for ceratin applications such as if your a business with a one or two day downtime window, then you need to use polyaspartic. If you're doing an outdoor epoxy floor, you need to use polyaspartic. The only reason contractors and franchise companies use and promote them is profit. It allows them to get in and out of a job in one day thus making them more profit! Good for them but not always what's best for you.

We manufacture and sell polyaspartic epoxy kits but we're selective to where and to whom we recommend them too. We recommend before purchasing a polyaspartic kit to talk to us first so we can go over your project specifics and determine what's best for you.

Polyaspartics are a thin build coating meaning that each layer is about 4 mils thick and a typical applications requires two layers which yields a total thickness of about 8 mils. This compares to our military grade solids epoxy systems that're 20-30 mils thick. They also have a higher abrasion loss rating meaning they're not as durable and not as scratch resisitant. They have a much shorter pot life making them a little more difficult to work with. 10-15 minutes versus about 30-40 minutes. They are also more costly with average costs being about $2.00/sf vs about $1.25/sf for our standard garage epoxy floor kits.

In sum polyaspartic epoxies are a great solution for certain applications just don't fall for the hype when you read certain articles or advertisements. Talk to one of our experts to decide whether polyaspartic epoxy flooring is the right choice for your specific application.
