Extra-Thick Indoor Epoxy Floor Paint
Our 100% military grade solids epoxy floor paint is very versatile and works as a standalone epoxy floor coating, part of a multi-layer epoxy floor system or for filling in very rough surfaces on your indoor floor due to pitting. This set of epoxy paint will cover up to 300 SF (1.5 Gallons), 600SF (3 Gallons) or 3000 SF (3-5 Gallon Pails, 15 Gallons Total). Apply with a notched squeegee and roller for direct to concrete applications or with flat squeegee to aid in filling in pitted areas or grout lines.
If your floor is pitted or you're filling grout lines we would apply the first coat with a flat squeegee with the main goal being to leave as little material as possible on the surface and as much in the grout lines, pits or voids. Allow it to dry overnight but no more than 24 hrs and then roll on second coat which should completely hide the imperfections depending on how deep they are.
This a very tough and durable coating, for extra durability and protection we recommend using one of our Urethane Epoxy Topcoats. They add UV protection, scratch resistance and extra grip when a nonslip additive is used.
To apply please take note this is not like store bought or other standard epoxies. Mix only 1 gallon of combined Part A & Part B per person rolling with a jiffy mixer in a power drill on medium speed for 2 minutes then split the epoxy into two separate pails. Pour the epoxy directly from your pail onto the floor in a bead from left to right or vice a versa. DO NOT LEAVE IN PAIL. DO NOT MIX A WHOLE SET OF THE EPOXY PAINT AT ONCE. If you do either of these, this is what you'll wind up with which is not covered under the warranty.
You will have about 30 minutes of pot life per batch which is more than enough time to apply a gallon of the paint. don't worry about paint on your rollers or mixing bucket, each new batch you mix and apply will reactivate the previous one. When done make sure to dispose of everything in a trash bag right away. Do not leave rollers or tools with epoxy on them laying around. Once this epoxy dries it can only be removed by grinding. So always have a little can of Xylene or Mineral Spirits on hand for cleaning up and spills or splashes.
If you are using an epoxy contractor to install for you make sure he reads this, they're used to working with lower quality epoxy paints and very often just mix all the epoxy at once and then blame the epoxy when it starts to smoke and turn into a solid block.
Once poured on the floor use your notched squeegee to spread out and then back roll it with a 1/4" or 3/8" lint free roller to do the final spreading. Optimal spread rate is about 185 sf/gal. If using to fill in grout lines or pits use the flat squeegee first and then the above method on the second coat. You will need to order double the quantity of epoxy when doing grout lines and pits. If using the Tile & Wood Epoxy kit, it comes with the epoxy you need for the second coat so no need to order double. We will ship in the same color epoxy paint as you ordered with the main Tile & Wood Epoxy Kit.
The epoxy will cure in about 12-14 hours depending on temperature and humidity. If topcoating, do not let more than 24 hrs pass before applying the topcoat otherwise you need to lightly sand the floor to rough it up. If using a primer allow the primer to dry completely before applying the epoxy. Our primers dry in about 5-6 hours and should not leave a fingerprint when you press your thumb into the coating.
Do not apply if floor temperature will drop below 55 degrees during curing process, this will stop the curing, and you will have sticky epoxy paint on your floor. You can heat the floor up to restart the curing process, but this doesn't always work so please be mindful of the temperatures during application.
For added scratch, abrasion and UV protection choose either the clear or color topcoat. Color topcoat will ship in same color as the epoxy you choose.
