ArmorGarage Military-Industrial Pallet Epoxy System
ArmorGarage Military Industrial Ultra Epoxy Flooring is sold as a complete packaged system for your convenience. Simply enter the square footage of your floor and we will calculate and package everything you need. Minimum order size for this product is 1500 sq ft and in 100 sq ft increments after that, ie: 1600, 1700, 2000.. Please average up to the next 100 foot increment, ie: if your floor is 2545 sq ft, enter 2600 into Qty Box. We are very conservative in our coverage ratios and provide plenty of material unlike our competition, we still recommend that you have a minimum 10% safety factor since every floor has a different porosity and texture and will absorb the product differently.
Also note that Beige and high pigment colors such as Yellow, White, Bright Red and Black will yield less coverage and we therefore recommend a 15% safety factor when using these colors otherwise you may get bleed through or a dull finish as opposed to the deep high gloss luster you see in our customer's photos.
For floors with a very rough finish such as a broom finish or that are pitted we recommend you call us to discuss since you will have to do an extra layer of the extra thick epoxy to fill in the pits and the nooks and crannies of a very rough finished floor to obtain a smooth finish. If a rougher finish is ok then you need not worry about doing the extra epoxy layer.

How to Apply Military-Industrial Epoxy Flooring
Complete step-by-step guide from surface prep through topcoat β primer, epoxy, and military-grade finish
Versatile Application
Ultra Epoxy Flooring can be applied onto just about any type of floor β concrete, wood, or stone β and can also be applied over existing paint. For wall applications, see Industrial Wall Epoxy Paint.
Waterproof Cove Base Option: Use this epoxy in conjunction with our Cove Base Kit between the floor and wall to create a 100% waterproof and sanitary installation β as required in commercial kitchens and food prep areas. A cove base forms a seamless, edgeless transition from the floor up your wall.
Cove Base Options: Form your own with our Epoxy Cove Base Compound and a cove base trowel, or purchase prefab cove base from EasyCove.com or SpeedCove.com (more costly but saves time).
Temperature Requirement: Floor and room temperature must stay be 60Β°F or higher for the entire curing process.
Surface Preparation
Apply epoxy in a temperature range of 60β95Β°F. Clean the floor thoroughly. Oil stains must be removed or primed with our proprietary Oil Primer prior to application.
Option A: Acid Etching
Power washing the floor first will yield better results. Then etch with the supplied acid etching solution:
- Mix the etch solution with water in a 3-to-1 ratio (water to acid)
- Pour evenly over the floor and brush in with a stiff bristle shop broom
- Let sit for 5β10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly
- Sprinkle the provided TSP powder evenly over the floor, brush in, and rinse. If etching twice neutralize on the second rinse only.
- Let the floor dry 24β48 hours minimum β concrete must be completely dry
New or Very Dirty Floors: Etch a second time with muriatic acid if it's a new floor or if your floor is heavily soiled.
Option B: Diamond Grinding
If grinding, etching is not necessary. Remove all dust prior to application. A floor prep machine from Home Depot does an excellent job.
Before & After: Properly Prepped Floor (Grinded & Etched)
Oil stains were cleaned with Liquid Tide and muriatic acid
Apply the Primer
Mix each can of the primer individually, then combine per the mix ratio stated on the front label. Roll on in an even coat and let dry to the touch. To test when primer is ready for the epoxy layer press your thumb into it, no fingerprint is good to go.
Red or White Orders: You will receive two coats of primer. Allow the first coat to dry 5β20 hours before applying the second coat.
Allow 5β20 hours after primer completion before applying the epoxy. If more than 20 hours have passed, sand the primer with 100-grit sandpaper to roughen up the surface before proceeding.
Mix & Apply the Epoxy
Mix each can of the epoxy individually, then combine the two parts in a 2:1 ratio (2 parts A to 1 part B β not the typical 1:1 ratio!). Mix for 2 1/2 minutes using the supplied power drill-mounted paint mixer at low speed, moving the wand up and down and scraping sides and bottom for a thorough mix.
Critical β Pot Life: Once mixed, Armor Ultra Epoxy has approximately 35-40 minutes of pot life at 70Β°F before it starts to thicken. Do NOT mix all the paint at once β this is NOT like store-bought epoxy with several hours of pot life.
Batch Size Guidelines
- Maintain the 2:1 ratio for each batch β don't mix more than you can apply in about 30 minutes
- 1 person rolling: Mix 1 gallon at a time
- Multiple people: You can mix larger batches but immediately split into 1-gallon pails to slow the thermal reaction
- Example: 3 people rolling? Mix 3 gallons, then immediately divide into three 1-gallon pails and give each a quick stir
Application Method
Pour a "bead" of the mixed material from left to right onto the floor and squeegee out with the supplied calibrated notched rubber squeegee β do not use a roller pan. The notched squeegee automatically spreads the epoxy at the proper thickness. Once evenly squeegeed out, roll over it with the supplied roller to smooth the ridges and do additional spreading until an even coat is achieved.
Then mix the next batch β this will reactivate whatever epoxy is on the roller, squeegee, and mixer, so you don't have to worry about hardening between batches. Continue until the floor is done. All sections will blend into a seamless finish.
Dry Time: Let dry for 10 hours or overnight, but not more than 20 hours. The epoxy should be rock hard. Do the thumb test.
Warning β Do NOT leave rollers or squeegees on the floor or leaning against walls or columns. They will be permanently welded to whatever surface they're touching by morning. Dispose of all rollers and squeegees immediately when done. Keep a small can of Xylene (available at Ace, Home Depot, or Lowe's) on hand for clean-ups.
Apply the Topcoat
Apply topcoat within 20 hours after epoxy application. Mix the topcoat in the can at low to medium speed to avoid introducing air bubbles for 1 minute.
Nonslip Option: Mix the nonslip additive into the topcoat for a slip-resistant surface and even more durability. Our Micro Tubular Aluminum is a high-tech nonslip designed to act as rebar in the coating while providing a slip-resistant finish. Stir the topcoat frequently to keep the nonslip suspended.
Use a roller pan and roll on the topcoat like regular paint. Dry times after topcoat:
- 6β7 hours: Foot traffic (thunb test to confirm)
- 24 hours: Light duty traffic (carts, dollies)
- 48 hours: Vehicle traffic
- 72 hours: Heavy traffic (forklifts)
You now have the finest and most durable epoxy floor coating possible!
Crew Size & Timing Guide
Average application speed is 1,000 sq ft per hour for two people per coat. Scale your crew based on floor size:
With the right crew size, each coat can be completed in about 5β6 hours β even on very large floors.

Q: Why is Red and White so much more expensive than other colors?
A: To make Red and White requires the use of very high quality pigments in much greater amounts than is required in other colors to get that brilliant red or super bright white with no concrete bleed through. Also in the case of white it requires the topcoat to be a solid white rather than clear to prevent UV yellowing or fading. To do a red or white floor the correct way is definitely more costly.
Q: Is this coating chemical resistant?
A: Yes it is, it's impervious to all vehicle fluids including battery acid. For high strenght acids use our Acid Resistant Epoxy System.
Q: How hard is it to apply this epoxy?
A: Application is very straight forward and very DIY friendly. No prior experience is needed and can be applied by painting contractor or in-house maintanance staff. The hardest part is usally getting the floor properly cleaned. Once cleaned it's just a matter of mixing the product properly and applying the primer and topcoat with a roller as you would regular paint and applying the high build epoxy first with a calibrated squeegee to initially spread it out and then backroll for final spreading.
Q: Can a floor be done in sections?
A: Yes. Apply the primer up to the break point. Then apply the high build epoxy keeping back about 12". Then apply the Topcoat keeping back about 12" from the epoxy edge. Then when ready to do the next section simply scuff each of the 12" layered edges so that it creats a rough surface for the next section to adhere too when you overlap lightly with each layer of coating and they will all blend together to form a seamless finish.
Q: What is the difference between this and the ArmorGarage II Commercial Pallet System?
A: This system uses the same primer as the commercial system but then we apply the extra thick epoxy layer whereas the commercial system applies a pigmented topcoat over the primer. This system applies a clear topcoat over the high build epoxy except in the case of white where we apply a white topcoat. So it's 2 layers vs three layers with the Military Industrial System having a very thick high build middle layer.
Q: What is the difference between the Pallaet system and the non pallet system?
A: First the price is discounted. It's packaged in 5 gallon pails instead of one gallon cans, you get 18" rollers and frames instead of just 9" rollers, you get 18" squeegee instead of 12", spike soles are included, more mixers etc. Ships via truck on a pallet instead of FedEx ground.
Q: What is the best way to order?
A: You can order directly online. Once you determined the size of your floor with the appropriate safety factor enter that figure into the quantity box. Depending on ther quantity you can receive bulk discount. Then decide if you don't need primer because you are using bonding primer or oil stain primer, then whether you require Low VOC or not, see list of states on main description page. It's that easy and of course you can always just call us and we will handle everything for you over the phone.
The difference between the Low Odor and the Odorless versions is the primers and topcoats. The epoxy layer in both versions is the same and has no odor since it is pure epoxy. The Low odor is exactly what it says, it will have a lower odor than the standard version but still has a primer and a topcoat odor. Also note that the Low VOC version will still have an odor during the topcoat application and drying time.
When working in an occupied area or on a large floor where you will be applying large quantities of the product it's recommended to use the Odorless version. We developed this for the US Military for use at their China Lake base where operations are ongoing 24/7 - 365 and always involve the coating of large floor areas. They needed an epoxy floor system that was easy to apply, odorless and could handle high stress applications. The odorless system uses primers and a special topcoat that we developed to be as durable as the standard version but also to be both Low VOC compliant and basically odorless. It has since grown to be one of our most popular systems with our industrial customers. Whereas prior to this you would use Low VOC to reduce the odor during the curing process for the primer and the epoxy but the Low VOC topcoat still had a very strong smell which required coordination between the application of the product and the operation of the facility. The no odor version eliminates any concern about operational disruptions without sacrificing any performance in durability or finished appearance.
Our unique no odor system provides a substantial upgrade to traditional no odor systems which are water based. Water based systems while Low VOC compliant, odorless and cheaper due to being up to 50% water are also much less durable, do not yield the same high gloss finish and are notoriously prone to premature failures, dulling and yellowing.
The beauty of this epoxy flooring system is its versatility. It can be used just about on any floor for any application. You don't have to worry about your floor coating being under rated for the traffic you're putting on it. In fact overkill is ok when it comes to epoxy floor coatings, you always want a coating greater than and never less than the task at hand.
