Epoxy Flooring For Garage & Commercial Floors
Epoxy Floor Coatings for Any Type of Floor
Epoxy floor coatings are multi-layer resin systems engineered to permanently bond to properly prepared concrete, creating a seamless, chemical-resistant, high-gloss surface. Unlike paint or simple sealers, true epoxy penetrates and cures into a hardened protective layer that helps defend your slab from moisture, road salts, oil, chemicals, impacts, tire abrasion, and heavy traffic.
Epoxy flooring is used in home garages, commercial shops, warehouses, and industrial facilities because it’s durable, easy to clean, and designed for long service life.
ArmorGarage offers multiple epoxy flooring systems so you can match the coating to your exact use case: daily vehicles, heavy trucks, workshops, hot tires, harsh winter salts, or high-traffic commercial floors.
Our DIY-friendly kits are designed for first-time users and are available as: Armor Chip (flake finish), Armor Granite (high-coverage granite look), Commercial System (solid color), and Metallic Epoxy (3D marble-style finish). You can also add primer and an optional military-grade topcoat for maximum durability.
A properly installed ArmorGarage epoxy floor can protect concrete and keep a like-new appearance for 15–20 years under normal garage use. Every kit ships free as a complete turnkey package with the correct materials and quantities to do the job right the first time.
Choose the military-grade topcoat option if you:
- Live in a harsh winter area with heavy road salt use
- Have oversized trucks, tractors, or equipment
- Use your garage as a workshop
- Store heavy toys like bobcats, boat trailers, ATVs, or snowmobiles

Commercial Epoxy Floor Coating
Our commercial epoxy floor system is available in both small and large format sizes. Consisting of our best-in-industry high-performance primer, followed by our extra heavy-duty 8 mg abrasion-rated topcoat in the same color. Unlike competing brands that use standard grit, we use micro tubular aluminum as a non-slip additive that acts like mini rebars for additional durability, as well as providing grip. It's why we call it ultrawear. This combination provides the 8 mg rating (the lower the number the better), which, compared to off-the-shelf epoxies with 25 mg ratings and higher, is no comparison. This product provides both an economical and durable solution for customers who need long-term protection against their floors dulling or wearing out. Used in the US Coast Guard Helicopter Air Stations.
Epoxy Flooring For Industry
We have several epoxy floor choices for industrial applications.
ArmorGarage Industrial Epoxy Flooring available in small & large formats is our three-layer high-build epoxy floor system for industrial applications and for those who play around with big heavy toys in their garages and pole barns. Its 4 mg abrasion loss rating is the lowest in the industry, except for our Heavy Tonnage Epoxy System.
Our Heavy Tonnage Epoxy Floor System,, which was used to do the floor in this image, has an incredible abrasion loss rating of only 3 mgs. It's super thick at 30 mils and has a chemically hardened finish that's many levels above a construction hard hat. We call it the toughest epoxy on earth because it's virtually indestructible. We even have an Industrial Epoxy Flake Floor for customers who want a fancier color flake finish look as well as military grade toughness. As you can see, we have an epoxy floor product to meet any project requirements from small to large, light duty to extreme duty. We have many other epoxy floor coatings and products, which you can see in the Specialty Coatings section that includes rubber floor epoxy, wet floor epoxies, and many more products. Check out our new "Shop By Image" menu that lets you see a picture of what you want to do, and with a click, you go right to that product. Epoxy Flooring FAQs
Click a question to expand the answer. Use Open All / Close All if you prefer.
The best epoxy flooring system depends on how your garage is used. Armor Chip is ideal for standard vehicle use and hides imperfections well. Armor Granite offers heavier flake coverage and a more decorative granite appearance. If you use your garage as a workshop or store heavy equipment, a higher-build system with a tougher topcoat is recommended.
Flake epoxy floors provide visual texture, hide concrete flaws, and add slip resistance. Solid color epoxy floors deliver a clean, professional look and make it easier to see small parts in workspaces. Both are durable epoxy flooring systems when installed with proper prep and topcoats.
Yes. When installed as a complete system with primer and a protective clear topcoat, metallic epoxy flooring is suitable for garages, showrooms, and light commercial spaces. It combines decorative 3D appearance with long-term durability.
Commercial epoxy floors typically require higher-build coatings and tougher topcoats to handle increased foot traffic, carts, and equipment. Commercial epoxy systems are engineered differently than standard residential kits to meet these demands.
Yes, when the system is matched to the environment and installed over properly prepared concrete. A proper epoxy flooring system can resist hot tire pickup, automotive fluids, chemicals, and winter road salts.
Heavy-Duty Epoxy Floor Coatings for Heavy Loads and Long Service Life
Heavy-duty epoxy floor coatings take the harsh daily use typical in shops and plants. They're made to handle forklift traffic, high vehicle traffic, and heavy work volumes without wearing and peeling like standard enamel floor paint. Having the right epoxy floor coating ensures hot tire heat does not ruin the shop floor through long work hours in garages. hangars, warehouses, and service bays gain long service life from each coating.
Each coating uses a thick multi-layer build for strength and durability. Primer glues to clean concrete, thick epoxy forms a solid base, and a urethane topcoat adds gloss and provides scratch, stain, and abrasion resistance from daily traffic.
ArmorGarage makes each coating in the United States with strong oversight. Military sites and large plants trust these heavy-duty coatings for tough floors. Thick military grade coatings cut recoat cycles to a minimum, reducing critical downtime. Our support team guides you toward the right coating for your floor and its proper installation.
What Is Epoxy Flooring?
Epoxy flooring is a multi-layer resin-based floor coating system that chemically bonds to properly prepared concrete. Once cured, it forms a seamless, non-porous, high-strength surface designed to protect floors from wear, chemicals, moisture, and heavy traffic.
Unlike floor paint or single-coat sealers, true epoxy flooring systems use a combination of primer, epoxy build coats, and protective topcoats. This layered approach is what prevents common failures like peeling, hot tire pickup, premature dulling, and staining.
Epoxy floors are commonly installed in garages, commercial shops, warehouses, showrooms, and industrial facilities where durability, appearance, and long-term performance matter.
Epoxy Flooring vs Epoxy Paint
- Epoxy flooring: chemically cures and bonds into concrete, cures hard, resists abrasion, chemicals, and hot tires
- Epoxy paint: air dries and dries on the surface, wears quickly, and is prone to peeling and staining
Many products marketed as “epoxy floor paint” contain little to no true epoxy resin. They are designed for short-term cosmetic improvement, not long-term performance.

Military Grade Epoxy Floor Coatings by Use Type
Every floor needs a coating built for its load and traffic. Military grade epoxy gives each surface superior strength, long-lasting use, and a tight bond across busy areas. These coatings are easy to keep clean and help concrete handle weight, heat, and movement in plants, shops, and home garages.
Industrial Floors
Industrial floors face forklifts, pallet trucks, sharp drops, abrasive debris on the floor, and heavy rolling equipment. These areas need thick epoxy layers that can handle heavy and destructive forces.
Our Military-Industrial Three Layer Epoxy Floor and our Extreme Duty Heavy-Tonnage Epoxy Floor systems are your best choices.-
Commercial Floors
Commercial floors deal with carts, spills, and heavy foot traffic. Our ArmorGarage II Commercial Epoxy FLooring handles abrasive wheels, grease, and steady work movement without early wear.
Color flake systems are suitable if primer and military topcoat are used, but not recommended if small parts will be dropped on the floor, as they are very hard to find on flake floors.
Garage Floors
Garage floors have hot & abrasive tire traffic, tools, and weekend tasks. There can be many destructive forces in a garage that will damage thin, low-quality paint fast. Armor Chip & Armor Granite military grade epoxy kits add thicker layers that prevent premature wear and failure even in the harshest conditions.
Flakes add a decorative terrazzo or granite look finish. A high gloss urethane top adds a showroom finish.
Epoxy Flooring FAQs
Common questions about choosing the right epoxy floor system for garages, commercial shops, and workspaces.
Which epoxy flooring system is best for my garage?
The best epoxy flooring system depends on how your garage is used. Armor Chip is ideal for standard vehicle use and hides imperfections well. Yes. ArmorGarage epoxy flooring kits are designed to be DIY-friendly. Success depends on thorough surface preparation, accurate mixing, and following application instructions to achieve proper thickness.
Choosing the Right Type of Epoxy Floor Coating
Each floor has its own load, heat, and traffic pattern. You pick an epoxy coating that fits how your space works each day. Industrial floors see heavy force, while commercial paths move fast with carts and spills. Garage floors deal with hot tires and stored gear. These coating types help your concrete slab stay strong through long use.
You look at a few core points before picking a build level.
- traffic from carts, wheels, and tools
- forklift weight across wide lanes
- heat from car tires in tight spaces
- spills, oils, and dropped items on concrete
We can help you choose the epoxy type that fits your floor.
- industrial high build epoxy
- commercial duty epoxy
- garage epoxy kits
The proper match keeps the coating on your concrete floor new the longest. Contact one of our team members with your project for our product recommendations
What to Look for in a High-Quality Epoxy Floor Coating
You want an epoxy floor coating that has a high adhesion rating, high build thickness of a minimum of 14-30 mils, and most importantly, an abrasion loss rating of 20 mg or less. ArmorGarage epoxy floors have the best ratings in all three categories that you can trust to deliver the best looking, longest last epoxy coating for your project
Epoxy Floor Coating Colors and Finishes
Your floor needs color and finish options that stay strong under traffic, heat, and daily movement. You pick a finish that hides marks, adds traction, and fits your work space. Our epoxy coatings use thick resin layers and a tough top coat so each finish holds up under wheels, tools, and heavy use.
Solid Color Epoxy Finishes
Solid color epoxy gives your floor a smooth, uniform base. These coats stay bright under traffic and clean up fast. A urethane top layer helps the color stay sharp as you use the floor.
Chip and Flake Finishes
Chip and flake finishes help cover stains, scuffs, and wheel paths. They add small points of texture that aid grip in shops and garages.
Granite Style Finishes
Granite style floors use a heavy chip spread for deep coverage. This finish hides small flaws in older concrete and gives a strong, speckled look. You still get the same thick epoxy and urethane structure under the surface.
Texture and Gloss Options
You choose a smoother finish or a light textured feel. Texture particles help shoes and wheels hold better when areas get wet. High gloss urethane reflects light and brightens work zones. Lower sheen options can help in spaces that need less shine.
Your color and finish choice should follow how you use the floor. You start with strength, then pick the look that supports daily work.
Benefits of Epoxy Floor Coatings
Stronger Protection for Concrete: Thick resin coats shield your slab from staining, abrasion, cracking or chipping. This helps your concrete stay in good shape.
Better Resistance to Heat and Weight: These coatings handle hot tires and rolling equipment with ease. Your floor stays new-looking when cars park and turn on them.
Long Surface Life Under Daily Use: You get durable layers that handle during work sessions or daily routine movement, spills, and small impacts.
Improved Grip and Movement Safety: Texture options give shoes and wheels better traction on slick spots.
Easy Cleaning on Busy Floors: Epoxy helps floors clean fast after oil, dust, or dirt. Wipes and rinses remove surface mess with little effort. Your space stays cleaner through long work hours.
What You Need Before Applying Epoxy Floor Coatings
You need a floor that is dry, open, and ready for work. Your slab must stay free of dust, old paint, and any oil spots. You also need enough epoxy and topcoat on hand so you finish the job without stopping. This gives you a smooth path from start to finish.
Your work area should be the right temperature, ideally 55 degrees and warmer, and easy to move through. You need space for mixing, rolling, and stepping around the slab while applying the epoxy. Keep tools close and move anything that may get in your way. Paint resparators are recommended when applying primers and urethane topcoats, these can have strong odors, the epoxy is oderless since it's pure epoxy with no solvents.
- 100% Dry slab without damp spots
- Floor surface with all dust removed if diamond grinded
- Room temperature within the correct window 55-100 degrees
- Enough epoxy and topcoat for full coverage
- Xylene or mineral spirits for cleanup. Our epoxy doesn't come off once it cures!

Additional Helpful Information About Epoxy Flooring
Many people run into trouble when they buy thin coatings or water-based paint kits. These products coat the floor but lack strength for heat, weight, and traffic. Some coatings claim strong 100% solids but are really fake 100% solids or just high solids and fall short during use. Others fail because they cannot handle cars, tools, or rolling equipment. Your best choice is a coating built for your load and your space.
Our Blog covers more topics if you want deeper detail. You can use it to see how different builds handle traffic, heat, and heavy work. This helps you avoid weak products and choose epoxy that stays strong.
