What Is Polyaspartic Epoxy: Polyaspartic is an Aliphatic Polyurea while actual Polyurea epoxies are Aromatic Polyureas. Polyaspartics are 100% UV-proof and can be applied in full-sunlight applications, while Polyureas cannot.
Polyaspartic epoxy has a faster cure time than polyureas, even though polyureas cure faster than standard epoxy coatings, polyaspartics are the fastest. They also have the shortest pot life of any type of epoxy.
Fast Timeline: When downtime is limited and getting back in service is critical this coating can be installed in one day with light traffic in 5-6 hours after application depending on temperature and 24 hours for heavy traffic.

Ultra Fast vs. Standard Epoxy

Ultra Fast Polyaspartic Epoxy

  • Fast professional results down to 32°
  • Dries in 2-3 hours
  • Heavy traffic in 24 hours
  • Indoor & outdoor rated
  • UV proof – won't yellow

Standard Epoxy

  • Apply at 55°F+
  • Dries in 12-24 hours
  • Heavy traffic in 2-4 days
  • Indoor use only
  • UV sensitive (not outdoor rated)

Performance Features

  • Chemical & acid resistant – Resistant to all vehicle fluids and Skydrol which is very corrosive
  • Heavy-duty rating – 20mg abrasion loss for normal wear & tear. Light forklift traffic rated
  • Multi-surface – Works on concrete, wood, or stone
  • Low odor – About the same as conventional interior paints

Coverage - Application Details - TDS & SDS

Coverage: Sold as a 2-gallon set, 250 square feet of coverage with two coats; a 4-gallon set covers 500 square feet with two coats; or a 6-gallon set covers750 square feet with two coats. Allow yourself at least a 10% safety factor for different floor porosities—every concrete floor is different.

Pot Life: Approximately 10-15 minutes. We recommend not mixing more than 1 gallon at a time. Start with 1/2 gallon for your first batch until you get familiar working with it.

Important: Work quickly due to short pot life. Prepare your surface completely before mixing, and have all tools ready.

Color Flake Finish Option

For a decorative color flake finish, choose one of our color flake packs. Instead of all pigmented epoxy, you will receive:

  • half the epoxy in the color you selected (base coat)
  • half the epoxy in clear as a topcoat over flakes
  • 3 lbs, 6lbs or 9lbs of color flakes for the 250, 500 or 750 SF kits respectively

This creates a finish similar to our Armor Chip Garage Epoxy kit but can be applied directly outdoors and during cold winter months.

Application Instructions

Follow each step carefully for best results. We recommend starting with a small test batch first.

Pro Tip — Start Small: Mix a small batch first (about ½ gallon total — one quart each of A and B) and apply in a corner area. This gets you used to mixing and working with the coating before tackling the main floor. The rest of the application should be straightforward after that.
1

Surface Preparation

Concrete slab must be clean of all dust, dirt, oil stains, and any other contaminants. We recommend a double etching if concrete is new or extra dirty. The Floor Prep Machine from Home Depot provides excellent results. After grinding, vacuum the floor to remove leftover dust, then use a strong leaf blower to blow any remaining dust off the floor and out of the premises.

Oil Stain Removal: Scrub out with Liquid Tide and muriatic acid, then neutralize with TSP. Test: Sprinkle water on the spot — water should not bead up or turn a rainbow/bluish tint. If it does, the oil has not been fully removed. Mechanical grinding can also be used.

Repair any cracks or divots prior to coating. Coatings will not repair floor damage. Use the ArmorGarage Instant Crack Repair, it lets you patch and coat right over it without having to wait for it to cure like standard patch compounds.

2

Mixing the Coating

Stir each can with separate stir sticks to unify any separated materials. Pour all the Tint (1 pint) into the Part A and mix until color is uniform. Pour Part A into a clear measuring container, do the same with Part B in a separate container.

Mix one gallon total of Part A & Part B at a time per the mix ratio on the label. You can use any measuring cups for smaller amounts as long as you maintain the proper ratios. Make sure to mix all material from the sides and bottom of your container so you don’t end up with any unmixed material. Do not over-stir or create a vortex that will induce air into the mixture. Mix for 2 minutes and pour directly onto concret in a bead, this will slow the curing process and allow more working time.

Short Working Time! This product has a working time of only 15–20 minutes once mixed. Do not mix more than 1 gallon at a time per person rolling. Pre-hardening of product is not covered under the warranty.
Cross-Contamination Warning: Do not use the same stir stick in different cans. Use one stick for Part A, a different stick for Part B, and a third stick for combining. Using a stir stick from one component in another will cause cross-contamination. You will need at least 3 heavy-duty stir sticks.
Storage: Do not mix in sunlight and do not store product in sun or hot areas. Heat accelerates curing and can cause the product to harden before application.
3

Apply the Base Coat

Pour mixed coating onto the floor in a left-to-right bead and spread out with a 1/4" nap epoxy lint-free roller. Apply at approximately 250 sq ft per mixed gallon. Do not mix more than 1 gallon at a time per person rolling.

Base coat quick specs

Spread Rate: ~250 sq ft per mixed gallon

Roller: 1/4" nap, epoxy lint-free (supplied with kit)

Max Mix per Person: 1 gallon at a time

Working Time: 15–20 minutes once mixed

4

Broadcast Color Flakes

Once epoxy is rolled out, put on your spike soles and broadcast color flakes into the wet epoxy. For best results, use a plastic-handled jug with 3/8" holes drilled into the bottom and shake the flakes out in an even but random pattern. An alternate method is to toss handfuls of flakes at a 45-degree angle up and away from you as you walk around.

Dry Time: Let the first coat dry to the touch — about 2–3 hours. Make sure it is fully dry. Test by pressing your thumb into the coating; it should leave no thumbprint. The first coat may dry with some streaks — this is normal and will be eliminated by the second coat.

Once dry, scrape the flakes with any type of flat-edge tool to knock down any standing chips, then vacuum up the debris.

5

Apply the Clear Topcoat

Apply the second coat (clear coat) in the same way as the first coat, perpendicular to the first coat if possible. Avoid puddling and over-rolling for best results. Spread rate is approximately 250 sq ft/gal. You will get better coverage on the second coat since the floor is now sealed, and all streakiness will be eliminated.

6

Non-Slip Additive (Recommended)

For a skid-resistant surface, mix the supplied non-slip additive into the clear coat in the appropriate ratio to the amount of epoxy you have mixed. Make sure to mix this in thoroughly before applying, and re-mix when pouring more epoxy into the roller pan to keep the non-slip particles suspended.

Safety Note: The coating is slippery when wet. Non-slip additive is recommended wherever the floor may get wet or oily.
Dry Time Summary: Dry to touch: 2–4 hours • Foot traffic: 6–8 hours • Full vehicle traffic: 48 hours. Times vary with temperature and humidity.
