The hammer test: Take a hammer to an ArmorGarage tile and any hollow-core tile. After a few good whacks, the hollow tile is destroyed. Sweep the floor

That’s the only floor prep needed. No etching, no grinding, no adhesive. Our garage floor tiles bridge over cracks, holes, and divots up to 3” wide.

Start at the front edge

Begin with the ramp edge at the garage door and work toward the back wall. Leave sidewall and back wall cuts for last. We recommend a bead of construction adhesive under the ramp and first row to lock them in place.

Knock tiles together

Tiles easily snap together with a rubber mallet. Cut with any power saw β€” jigsaws work well for intricate cuts around pipes and columns.

Are solid PVC garage floor tiles better than hollow-core polypropylene tiles?

Yes. Solid PVC garage floor tiles are stronger, heavier, more flexible, and sound-deadening. Hollow-core polypropylene tiles weigh less than a pound, have only a 1/16” wear surface, make click-clack noises when walked on, and crack at stress points because they’re brittle. ArmorGarage tiles weigh 3.5–5 lbs each of solid PVC and are guaranteed for life.

How long does it take to install garage floor tiles?

A typical 2.5-car garage takes 4–5 hours to install. The only floor prep needed is sweeping out debris. Tiles knock together with a rubber mallet and cut with any power saw. No adhesive needed except under the ramp edge and first row.

Can garage floor tiles go over cracked or damaged concrete?

Yes. ArmorGarage interlocking garage floor tiles can bridge over cracks, holes, and divots up to 3” wide. No need to repair or resurface your concrete. They can also go directly over old coatings β€” no stripping required.

Are garage floor tiles or garage floor mats better?

Both are excellent options. Interlocking garage floor tiles offer more design flexibility with multiple patterns, colors, and the ability to replace individual tiles. Rollout garage floor mats are the fastest install β€” simply unroll, trim, and you’re done. Both are made from solid PVC/polyvinyl, waterproof, and guaranteed for life.

What about tire staining on garage floor tiles?

Modern tires contain additives that can cause rubber to leach and stain any floor tile. We recommend coating all tiles with Hillway Direct Plus Cleaner and Maintainer or our Tile Coating to protect against tire staining. This applies to all brands of garage floor tiles, not just ours.

What’s the difference between garage floor tiles and epoxy coatings?

Garage floor tiles install in hours with no floor prep, no cure time, and no professional help. Epoxy coatings require concrete preparation (grinding or etching), multiple days of cure time, and temperature-controlled application. Tiles can be removed and reinstalled; epoxy is permanent.
