Court Bond Pickleball & Tennis Court Coating

Professional-grade court coating engineered for pickleball, tennis, and multi-sport surfaces. Bonds to asphalt and concrete. UV-stable, slip-resistant, and DIY-friendly.

UV-Stable • Slip-Resistant • Asphalt & Concrete • DIY Kit • Free Shipping

Court Bond is a polymer-based court coating system from ArmorGarage designed for pickleball courts, tennis courts, and multi-sport outdoor surfaces. It bonds chemically to both asphalt and concrete, resists UV exposure and weather without fading, and includes built-in slip resistance for player safety. Court Bond is the offshoot of our flagship Surface Bond system — reformulated with the specific cure speed, traction, and color durability requirements that competitive sports courts demand.

Why Court Bond Outperforms Standard Court Coatings

Most pickleball and tennis court coatings on the market are basic acrylic resurfacers — thin water-based products that need re-coating every 2–4 years. Court Bond uses advanced polymer chemistry that delivers significantly longer service life, stronger UV resistance, and better wear performance under the demands of competitive play.

Superior Durability

Engineered film build handles the constant impact, sliding, and pivoting of competitive pickleball and tennis play without degrading.

Bonds to Asphalt & Concrete

Polymer chemistry penetrates and locks into both substrate types. Most court coatings work on one or the other — not both.

UV-Stable Colors

Won't fade, yellow, or chalk under direct sunlight. Court colors stay vibrant year after year — even in the harshest sun-exposed installations.

Built-In Slip Resistance

Engineered traction profile reduces slip risk during play, especially in wet conditions. Critical for player safety and facility liability.

Rapid Cure Time

Fast cure minimizes facility downtime. Apply on a weekend, return to play sooner than traditional acrylic resurfacers allow.

DIY-Friendly Kit

Complete kit with detailed instructions. Designed for first-time installers — no specialized contractor equipment required.

All-Weather Performance

Withstands rain, freeze-thaw cycles, temperature extremes, and intense sun exposure. Engineered for year-round outdoor use.

Color Selection

Standard tennis green and competition blue plus custom color options. Match facility branding or USAPA/USTA color specifications.

Where Court Bond Is Used

Court Bond performs across the full range of pickleball and tennis court applications — from backyard residential courts to municipal facilities to professional training centers. The same DIY kit that handles a single residential court is used for larger commercial installations through volume pricing.

Application Why Court Bond Fits
Private Residential Courts DIY-friendly application, premium appearance, professional-grade durability for backyard pickleball or tennis
HOA & Community Courts Low maintenance reduces ongoing HOA costs; long lifespan minimizes assessment-funded replacements
Municipal Parks & Recreation Handles heavy public use; UV stability prevents the fading that makes parks departments re-coat every 2–3 years
Schools & Universities Multi-sport surface (pickleball, tennis, lined for both) maximizes athletic facility utility
Pickleball Clubs & Facilities Professional appearance and consistent ball response that members and tournament players expect
Tennis Clubs & Training Centers Durable enough for high-volume coaching and training; UV stability keeps courts looking new through the season
Resort & Hotel Courts Visual appeal supports property positioning; durability handles guest use without constant maintenance

Court Bond vs. Standard Court Coatings

Most outdoor courts are surfaced with basic acrylic resurfacers — thin water-based products that have dominated the court coating market for decades. Court Bond's polymer chemistry delivers significantly better long-term performance across every measurable category.

Performance Factor Court Bond Acrylic Resurfacer
Chemistry Advanced polymer system Basic water-based acrylic
Bonds To Asphalt AND concrete Asphalt only (typical)
Typical Lifespan 8–12+ years 2–4 years
UV Stability Excellent — no fading Fades within 1–2 years
Weather Resistance Handles freeze-thaw cycles Cracks under extreme cycling
Slip Resistance Engineered into formula Often added separately
Re-Coat Frequency Once every 8–12 years Every 2–4 years
DIY-Friendly Yes — complete kit Variable — many require pro install

The cost-per-year math heavily favors Court Bond. A coating that lasts 10 years at modest premium pricing costs significantly less per year of service than an acrylic resurfacer that needs re-coating every 3 years. Factor in labor costs of repeated re-coats, and Court Bond is dramatically less expensive over a decade of court ownership.

The Value of a Quality Court Coating

A court is a long-term investment whether it's residential or commercial. The coating you choose determines whether that investment delivers a decade of consistent play or starts looking shabby within a couple of seasons.

For residential installations: A finished court visibly increases home value, supports backyard entertainment use, and provides a recreational asset that family members use for years. The difference between a well-coated court and a fading, cracked one is the difference between an asset that adds property value and a liability that detracts from it.

For commercial and municipal installations: Court Bond reduces long-term maintenance costs, supports facility utilization, and protects against the liability concerns associated with deteriorating playing surfaces. A facility known for well-maintained courts attracts more players, more leagues, and more event bookings — turning a maintenance line item into a revenue driver.

For schools, universities, and community recreation departments, Court Bond's longer service life means fewer assessment-funded re-coating projects and consistent court conditions across multiple sports seasons.

Installation Overview

Court Bond is engineered for DIY installation. Most residential single-court projects are completed over a weekend by first-time installers following the included instructions. Larger commercial installations typically take 2–3 days depending on court count and crew size.

Typical installation sequence:

  • Surface preparation — clean substrate, repair cracks, ensure proper substrate condition
  • Court Bond application — squeegee and back-roll the coating in two coats
  • Cure time — allow proper cure window before line painting
  • Line painting — apply USAPA pickleball lines or USTA tennis lines (or both for multi-sport courts)
  • Return to play — courts ready for use after final cure

See Primer in Related Products at the bottom of the page. Asphalt surfaces should be primed unless new. Concrete surfaces are not required to be primed but we recommend it since the primer greatly enhances adhesion.

Common Questions About Court Bond

Can Court Bond be applied over an existing court coating?

Yes — Court Bond can be applied over existing court coatings if the existing coating is firmly bonded and structurally sound. If the existing coating is peeling, cracking, or showing widespread failure, mechanical removal is recommended before applying Court Bond. Contact our team with photos of your existing court for a specific recommendation.

How long does Court Bond last?

Court Bond typically lasts 8–12+ years on properly prepped substrates. This is significantly longer than standard acrylic resurfacers, which typically need re-coating every 2–4 years. Lifespan depends on play volume, climate, and substrate condition.

Does Court Bond work for both pickleball and tennis on the same court?

Yes — Court Bond is excellent for multi-sport courts. The same coating supports both pickleball and tennis play, with line painting that can include both sports' specifications on a single court. This is the ideal setup for HOAs, schools, parks departments, and any facility wanting maximum utility per court.

What's the difference between Court Bond and Surface Bond?

Court Bond is engineered specifically for sports court applications — with the cure speed, traction profile, and color durability that competitive play requires. Surface Bond is the broader outdoor coating system used for patios, decks, pool surrounds, and general outdoor concrete or asphalt. Both share the same advanced polymer chemistry, but Court Bond is optimized for the specific demands of pickleball and tennis surfaces.

Can Court Bond be applied DIY?

Yes — Court Bond is specifically engineered for DIY installation. Most single-court residential projects are completed over a weekend by first-time installers. The complete kit includes detailed instructions, all application tools, and our team is available for technical support throughout your project.

Will Court Bond fade over time?

No — Court Bond is engineered with UV-stable pigments that resist fading even under prolonged direct sunlight exposure. This is a meaningful advantage over standard acrylic resurfacers, which typically lose color saturation within 1–2 years. Court Bond installations maintain their color depth for the full service life of the coating.

What surface preparation does Court Bond require?

Court Bond requires clean, dry, structurally sound substrate (asphalt or concrete). Surface preparation includes cleaning, crack repair where needed, and ensuring no oil or contamination remains. Detailed prep instructions are included with every kit, and our team can advise on specific substrate conditions if you have questions before purchase. We recommend the Surface Bond Primer when coating over bare concrete or asphalt to maximize adhesion.

Surface Court Bond Application Instructions
1

Surface Preparation

Surface must be clean and completely dry before application. For asphalt, a good leaf blower and stiff-bristled broom is normally all that's needed — vigorously broom the surface to loosen dirt, then blow it away.

For very dirty or large surfaces, power wash and allow sufficient drying time. If vehicle fluids are present in the surface, they must be removed. Oil stains can be scrubbed out with Liquid Tide and muriatic acid, then thoroughly rinsed. Allow the surface to dry completely.

Concrete surfaces: Concrete must be 28 days or older. All concrete must be acid washed — mix 1 gallon muriatic acid with 3 gallons water per 300 sq ft. Wet surface, scrub in diluted acid with a stiff resin broom or pool brush, let sit 5–6 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Neutralize with 1 lb TSP powder per 1,000 sq ft as a final rinse. Allow to dry to the touch.
2

Check Weather Conditions

Temperature must remain above 50°F for a minimum of 4 hours after you finish application. No rain is allowed for 24 hours after application.

3

Primer (If Needed)

For asphalt surfaces, use Surface Court Bond Primer at te rate of 200-300 sf/gal unless the asphalt is new and stable. Apply Surface Bond after primer is dry to the touch — about 45 minutes.

For concrete, bricks, or pavers, primer isn't required but is recommended to increase adhesion. If coating over stamped concrete, use a ½"–¾" nap roller.

See Primer In related Products At Bottom Of Page To Order.

4

Mix the Coating

Surface Court Bond is a one-component product. Add 1 pint of color per 5-gallon unit. Mix with the Surface Bond metal mixer for 3–4 minutes to ensure color is evenly distributed.

Hot weather tip: If applying in very hot temperatures, you may add a small amount of water to thin the coating and extend working time.
5

Apply the Coating

Application method is the same for asphalt and concrete. Once thoroughly mixed, roll on with 3/8" lint-free rollers, or use the Surface Court Bond roller for an orange-peel textured finish. The coating can also be applied with a flat squeegee, sprayed, or broomed — depending on the surface.

Surface TypeBest Method
Smooth asphalt or concreteRoll on with 3/8" lint-free roller
Rough textured asphaltSqueegee to spread, then back-roll to even out
Stamped concreteSpray and broom, or squeegee and broom
Bricks and paversSpray while a second person brooms into the pattern

Maintain the recommended coverage rate regardless of application method.

6

Recoat & Finish

Allow each coat to dry fully to the touch before applying the next. Recoat time is 30–45 minutes. Dry time for the final coat is 1–3 hours depending on temperature and humidity.

Roll or spray the second coat perpendicular to the first coat — this ensures a more even finish. When spraying over a patterned surface, use a broom to work the coating in and distribute it evenly. The final coat on a non-patterned surface can be sprayed and rolled instead of broomed.

⚠ DO NOT apply to asphalt or concrete that has been sealed unless the sealer is completely removed. If water sprinkled on the surface beads up or doesn't absorb within a few seconds, the surface has been sealed and must be stripped before coating.
