A cannabis operation is not one floor, it is four. Cultivation rooms run at 50–80% humidity around the clock. Extraction labs see butane, ethanol, and concentrated oils. Dry, cure, trim, and packaging rooms are dry and busy. A dispensary floor has to look good under retail lighting all day. Each of those conditions fails a floor in a different way, so specifying one epoxy for the whole building is the most common mistake we see in this industry.

Grow Room & Cultivation Room Flooring

Grow rooms don't wear out floors. They drown them. Cart traffic and rolling benches are light duty compared to a warehouse. What kills a grow room floor is moisture: 50–80% relative humidity every day of the cycle, irrigation runoff, foliar spray, nutrient spills, and daily washdown, all sitting on a slab that is usually on grade and already carrying vapor from below.

Standard epoxy fails here in a predictable way. Micro-fissures open in the surface, moisture works down to the concrete, and vapor pressure pushes back up carrying efflorescence with it. The coating lifts, and now you have a delaminated floor in a licensed room that has to be ground off before it can be recoated.

Our Wet Floor Epoxy was built for continuously wet processing floors, and it is the system we specify for cultivation:

Bonds to damp and wet concrete. You can coat a room without drying it out first, and the bond holds under the same humidity the room runs at in service.
100% solids, self-priming. Two coats at 16 mils, or spread heavier up to 40 mils for rooms with rolling benches and nutrient mixing stations. No separate primer step.
Bright White and Light Gray. A reflective floor puts more of your lighting back onto the canopy, and light shades show contamination instead of hiding it.
Non-slip additive included. Wet grow rooms are a slip hazard. The additive mixes into the second coat.
Add the cove base. Our Cove Base Kit turns the room into a sealed tub with a radiused floor-to-wall transition, which is what inspectors want to see in a washdown room.

Extraction Lab & Solvent Room Floor Coatings

Extraction rooms are the harshest floor condition in the building. Hydrocarbon labs run butane and propane. Ethanol wash rooms see continuous alcohol contact. Post-processing handles concentrated oils, distillates, and terpenes that permanently stain unprotected concrete and soften the wrong epoxy.

Dry, Cure, Trim, Packaging & Storage Room Flooring

These are the dry rooms. Humidity is controlled low on purpose, traffic is carts and foot traffic, and the job of the floor is to be sealed, cleanable, and not shed dust or moisture vapor into product during the cure. Bare concrete does all three of those things wrong.

Do I need urethane cement for a grow room floor?

Urethane cement is specified by flooring contractors for grow rooms because it tolerates moisture vapor. A moisture-tolerant epoxy applied to the damp slab addresses the same failure mode at a fraction of the installed cost, and your own staff can apply it.

Can epoxy be applied to a damp or wet grow room floor?
